Carbon reduction, that is, creating ways to limit the amount of carbon released in the atmosphere has been underway for decades. However, often access and knowledge is a barrier to implementation. What electric car do I purchase? How can I afford an electric vehicle? How can I use renewable energy sources at home? What can I make that will help reduce carbon release? How do I make it while minimizing carbon release? How can I be carbon negative?
The level of carbon in the atmosphere is over 416 parts per million (ppm), way above the suggested sustainable level of 350 ppm. Consequently, we have yet to realize the impact this level of carbon will have over time. It will require changes in the way we live - food, water, shelter, energy systems will be increasingly under stress. What can we make that will help us adapt?
Plants and oceans drawdown carbon however each can only hold so much. Add deforestation and poor land management practices and it is clearer we need to develop and scale technologies that accelerate carbon drawdown to get to sustainable levels of 350 ppm. What can we make that will capture carbon and can be scaled to have a significant impact to drawdown and capture carbon?
